I really enjoyed working on this project. It took a lot of time and patience but in the end it was worth it
I really enjoyed this Project. I started off with some difficulties as to how I wanted to design the web site. I finally settled on a basic 2 column structure. I Settled on a drawn background representing bricks. I wanted to have all of the navigation easily available, and the site to be straight forward. The affliction website was where I obtained most of my inspiration. They had a very eye catching flash animation on their opening page. I know a little bit of Fireworks, so I decided to make a little gif animation to grab my viewers attention. From there I went on to link my site to the social networks, the sponsors, and stores that carry the clothing. Overall, I really enjoyed doing this project, and I learned a lot.
I chose Jeremy Cox because I thought he had a very interesting style. I think he falls under the category of collage or hand drawn.
My story board for “happy” would be for the letters to be playing with the birthday cake, and the “A” dropping it. All of the other letters would run away leaving the “A” to get into trouble resulting in the word “SAD”
The “B” in “BIRTH” would literally birth the other letters. After birthing the letter “H” ( which would be larger than the other characters) the “B” would shrink and Result in the word “DEATH”.
I chose still alive to do my critique on. I felt that it had a great sense of timing, sound and structure. The space was utilized very well with the sound making the video what it is. The images that were being used were primarily type. There were some shapes but only to emphasis the picture. The timing was well coordinated with the graphics. It could have been slightly more on Que. Im not sure what the meaning behind it is.
1) Grid Theory is a way for a site to be proportionate. By using the rule of thirds for example, you can achieve balance and proportion in an interesting composition.
2) Other important principles for web design are unity through use of repetition for example, emphasis, and placement to name a few.
3) Bread and Butter layouts are just designs that have been repeated “safe choices” and are known to work such as left column, right column, and center column navigation layouts.
